We will be performing at the annual Park Road
bash this year, its a private do so there is little point in posting
this here but we figured you might think weve given up if we didnt
post something. We are putting some new live songs together as well.
On we go regardless of anything. The last few months have been the
weirdest few months ever for me (db), the full story is hidden somewhere
on this site as its still open to interpretation and litigation is
an issue. Paul well he just carries on being Paul. The worlds finest
living guitarist that you never heard of.
We are releasing a CD of our recent recordings,
please email if you want a copy and now we are working on a newish
kind of a sound which we have christened "Tethnopunk" as
its a kind of mish mash of techno, ethnic and punk styles.
The final version of Shake Hands will be posted
on here too just as soon as I can be bothered to go upstairs and transfer
it from the Gonzoid recording computer to my laptop.
S(HOLY MACAROOCHIE(09/05/10)
Another month whizzes past and its now, still I downloaded the sheep
WAV files so its on with a beefed up aggressive and basically totally
different version of Dr
Fucking Cheesehead because it is. P.S. The reasons for the silence
are still undivulgable.
ITS(08/04/10)
Been a bit quiet on the Gonzoid front for reasons that cannot presently
be divulged, however we will be playing live at "The Brit 101"
on Saturday 24th April. Its a cosy little boozer up here int north,
so come and see us if you want to and dont if you dont want to. We
will be playing guitars. Soon the floodgates will open, we might even
update the site a bit to make it more pleasing, we know how you humans
like things which are pleasing. Anyway were off back to space and
the planet Gonzoidonia now tatty bye.
SO(23/01/10)
Then I got to thinking "Bollocks to it, why not put the new songs
on here too" and as is rarely the case my wish is my command,
so here are some new (ish) recordings, first up is Groovy
and I dont care if I/we
ever get around to finding a new label to release our stuff then obviously
these will be removed.
AN(19/01/10)
Executive decision has been made to put the tracks from "The
Gonzoid EP" on here because
a) Their bloody good tunes
b) WTFD records have gone off the radar, no word for months despite
emails to them, no sales reports despite promises to the contrary
and weve never been paid anything from them anyway, our theory is
that they expected us to do loads of promo etc and get the money rolling
in whereas we expected them to do loads of promo to gain us an audience
that we could in turn begin to milk for cash but we cant be sure since
they never get in touch..
and
c) Whats the point of having good tunes if no one hears them?
OVER 50,000 (27/12/09)
Visitors have now come through this website, thats a lot. I wonder
how many were bots?
WE(10/11/09)
will be playing a gig at Pendle College at Lancaster University on
3rd December, we will be on at about 9 oclock and playing our full
set so go there and watch us.
IF(03/11/09)
It be news your after :- Weve got some songs recorded and to make
em "Radio Friendly" we cut the somewhat elaborate introductions
off them. We at gonzoid like long introductions and rarely have them
less than a minute on recorded stuff, but we realise this might not
do us any favours in the world of not gonzoid. Plan is to begin bugging
people with these songs asap. Its about time too.(By
that I mean it about time the songs were done, not the songs are about
time as it were)
FURTHERFURTHERMORE(10/10/09)
Paul whipped out his guitar and did some pretty devastatingly thingy
guitar bits on it too. He always plays at an angle to whatever idea
I might have had. Which is pretty neat.
AND(04/10/09)
Furthermore finally got the backing tracks for "Shake Hands"
shifted up a tone, my (db) feeble voice can only sing in a small range
with any degree of conviction, so woo bloody hoo, tis done.
ANYWAY(03/10/09)
We decided to release our new CD soon, our former label WTFD have
proved to be an utter waste of time. Its almost done just some vocals
to sing and then you will be able to buy copies of it from here, and
maybe some other places too. Any money we make will be used to fund
playing gigs in the world.
IT(14/09/2009)
Doesnt feel like a month since the last update.
AND(12/08/2009)
A new recording of Slightly
Dumbfounded is in the pipeline too, we are trying to strip the
sound down a bit and use less reverb, many previous recordings have
gotten ridiculous, in that, for example, I Dont Care used 35 tracks
in Cubase, which is bonkers and unwieldy when it comes remix time.
The problem with a virtual infinite number of available tracks is
we tend to use them, then finish up with a recording that is impossible
to remix, so we're stuck with mixes that were not entirely happy with.
A word to the wise ... when you use loads of tracks on Cubase a tiny
adjustment in one place can wreak havoc on the whole of the mix.
PLANS(16/07/09)
Are underway for a new video, this one promises to be another delving
into the world of the unusual and the obscene. It will be for the
tune called "Rammtallizoid" which can be heard on our myspace
page.
WE(30/06/2009)
Are still here, we just dont seem to be doing much at the moment,
I guess were gathering our thoughts before engaging on new things
for the world to ignore.
YO(25/05/2009)
A hearty retrospective welcome to visitor 40000 who visited us today.
Were toying with the idea of an album of imaginary cover versions,
but there isnt enough time in the world
WERE(19/05/2009)
Not playing at beatherder this year for some reason. We have however
finished the Argonaut remix, it will be available for listening soon
and the "A Trackmark Taster" 6 song thing is done and available
for download at the relevant myspacepages
NOT(03/05/2009)
Any more, the music page has been massacred, there are still links
to songs here and there on the website that I cant be arsed hunting
down and removing so if you want to hear other songs your going to
have to look for them. Furthermore this week sees the release of "A
Trackmark Tester" featuring "Groovy" Krank Kult Leeder"
and "Rammtallizoid" by us and three superb songs by "The
Minor Poets"all will be available for free
download,
A MODERATE(28/04/2009)
Stay of execution on the music page changing front, Ive been too busy
to get around to it and Im very lazy, it will be done soon though.
SEEING(23/04/2009)
As this is a news page here is some: I (db) will be performing some
Gonzoid songs live without Paul tomorrow night at Lancasters Gregson
Centre, Its a benefit do and the idea was only proposed today hence
Pauls inability to attend, its got the potential for me to make an
absolute tit of myself if it all goes wrong, bearing in mind we havent
rehearsed for 3 weeks I only got 24 hours notice and Im opening the
set with a brand new song and Ive only ever done 1 solo gig before
and that was acoustic and I havent picked up a guitar in 2 weeks and
I havent done any singing for 3 weeks and Im doing another song thats
never been done live before and there will probably be no onstage
monitors and Im doing the sound mixing myself, so no pressure then.
THIS(27/03/2009)
Is the plan, we have so much music on the music pages its daft, so
were going to "Streamline" operations and have 7 tracks
only, though this may change one day and the 7 songs will change to.
So there you have it, the internet changes and we feel that because
everyone is in such a hurry these days nobody will be arsed trawling
through all the music we have on here. The songs available will be
pretty representative of all the different styles we seem to posssssssssssssssesssssssssssss.
SO(20/03/2009)
Since singing fish has gone tits up weve been getting bog all song
listens so seems to me to be the best time to get on with the revamp
of the music pages that Ive been banging on about forever. The new
policy is to not put everything up just the stuff that makes us look
like we are actually good at this music bollox, so there you is, also
I might rename all the pages because we keep getting binary bullshit
occuring because the site is old. So there. p.s. working on a version
of "Shake Hands" that confirms one of two things :
1 ... I (db) am the greatest musical genius
of all time ... or
2 ... I (db) am the most deluded and pathetic
egotist to ever talk nonsense about my own competence.... world, the
choice is yours, I await your verdict with the same anticipation with
which you await the "Shake Hands" recording.
WE(11/03/2009)
Have songs to listen to on the music page
R.I.P(17/02/2009)
Singing fish, most of the song plays we get have come from "Singing
Fish" which AOL bought and closed down and now is finally dead
and with it go about 300 song plays a month for us, what a load of
bollocks. Its weird that the people who listened to us on there havent
tried to find us elsewhere, like here maybe? One is going to have
to get one's publicising oneself head on isnt one.
THE(17/01/2009)
First of our new recordings has been made available for your listening
pleasure on the myspace page of TRACKMARK
its a reworking of GROOVY ,
enjoy.
WELL(14/01/2009)
Thats christmas and new year done for another year, back to a life
of not disruption and maybe an opportunity or two to finish the recordings.
Just some vocals to do and were in business.
On a personal note I (db) will be glad
to get these songs finished and out there, I cant speak for Paul,
as he has his own mouth and brain, but I feel a bit like these songs
are something of a millstone around my neck, in that all of them were
recorded in the past on rubbish recording media, then reworked and
recorded again for live performance, then recorded again for the next
release. It will be good to finally draw a line under them and get
on with some of the new ideas that we've got kicking around.
THE(20/12/2008)
EP isnt going to be an EP its going to be an LP instead, we recorded
a bunch of extra songs and decided to add the lovely "The
Museum Of Famous Corpses" meaning about 10 songs in all.
Also meaning Museum will be taken down in its freebie download form
so get your ears out click on the link and listen to it now while
its still there.
WELL(10/12/2008)
We've been meaning to do some drop down menu's to make the site a
tad more navigable, but, in the course of this I needed to download
winzip, it gave me this irritating "Intervalhehehe" virus
which hijacks your home page and tries to sell you anti virus software
that is no doubt a con. So beware of downloading winzip from a mirror
site in, you guessed it folks, China, who are producing some of the
best viruses on the computer market at the moment. With that and my
mums funeral yesterday I simply didnt get it together.(db)
A BIG(27/11/2008)
Apology from Hostpapa for the site being down for the last few days,
problems on the server wherein our site resides, as always their customer
services were exemplary and excruciatingly helpful. Go and have a
gander at the TRACKMARKmyspace page were calling our next release "Vreeb Ein"
a name which came in a dream.
ARGONAUT(17/11/2008)
Got in touch with the suggestion that we might remix each others songs.
so were gona.
TODAY(25/10/2008)
Sees confirmation that the next release from us will be on "Trackmark"
which is a label. Glad thats sorted out because the tunes have been
ready for ages they just need a swift remix and they are ready to
go. We have just had a couple of weeks off after our strenuous world
tour in order to put a line under that stage of development and start
a new phase in the life of Gonzoid, new lyrics have been written and
tunes are, even as we speak, being forged together in the furnace
of gonzoidonia. We will peep you Kosted. whoops keep you posted
YESTERDAY(10/10/2008)
Saw visitor 30,000 visit the website.
SO(07/10/2008)
The Preston gig was cancelled, the blackpool gig was badly attended
and so was the Lancaster gig, despite the latter being free! The few
people who did turn up had a good time and we were grateful for the
praise we had heaped on us, especially by the Blackpool crew, who
are really some of the nicest people you could hope to meet, the jury
is still out on the plastic breasted nun Im afraid, though he seemed
a perfectly decent bloke. Ndx was great, he has an exciting and aggressive
sound. But the bad attendances meant the overall cost was minus £15,
this goes against our so long as we dont lose money we'll do it ethos,
in a funny way badly attended gigs are like pay to play only no one
makes a profit. We are thus going to cease to be gonzoid buy suits
and do frank sinatra covers in old peoples homes, guaranteed audience,
plenty of tea and biscuits and get home nice and early after the gig.
THE PRESTON(30/09/2008)
Gig has been cancelled, there has been shenanigans and much tribulation
in sunny Preston by all accounts, culminating in bands arriving to
play without a PA being booked or drum kit being laid on. A new promoter
has been drafted in and there should at some point be a rearrangement.
The Park Hotel gig on the other hand is going to have FREE ENTRY my
old chum Richard has kindly offered to fund the event so everyone
turn up and drink, drink I ,
say.
IT WILL BE(24/09/2008)
A laugh playing gigs next week, grass roots are after all a band,
and at the Blackpool thing we will be on at 11pm. Gonzoid think 30
minute sets are to protect beer sales, working on the theory that
if a band is crap and they only play for 30 minutes less people will
leave (Hence stop buying beer) than if they play for longer, quite
a few places do a first gig of 30 minutes then if you dont drive the
beer drinkers away invite you back to do a longer set at some future
date. p.s.the cd isnt ready and probably wont be done before these
gigs as we have to work for a living.
THE PARK HOTEL(06/09/2008)
Is the venue for the lancaster gig with Ndx
THE(03/09/2008)
Blackpool gig will be with "The Bug Chasers" who are mostly
ceramic hobs, though without pStan and "The Dropout Wives",
unfortunately its measly half hour sets but it should be a good one
all the same. The Preston gig is with "Grass Roots" we have
absolutely no idea who or what that means, were hoping its not a big
pile of roots from under someone's lawn, though that may have advantages.
Then the lovely Ndx will be joining us for the Lancaster gig. Suppose
we'd better get practicing eh?
